Explore Surrey’s wonderful countryside this May bank holiday…

One of the wonderful things about living in Surrey is the fact we are surrounded by beautiful countryside. Whether you like going for a drive through one of the many tree lined avenues or venturing by foot there is something for every generation to enjoy.
Box Hill is a great place for leisure activities for all the family; picnicking, walking, enjoying a cream tea in the café on top of the hill, or a burger at Ryka’s famous bikers cafe, flying a kite, and on a clear day it’s even possible to see the coast, these are just some of the many things you can do. Here is Box Hill’s Military walk  this has been graded as hard.
Many famous films and series have also been filmed on the slopes of this iconic hill, some of them include the latest adaptation of Jane Austin’s Emma, the Avengers and the latest has been the new advert from Halfords.
If you fancy going on a hike this May bank holiday weekend then why not visit Leith Hill Tower, which has the second highest point in South East England or if you fancy something less energetic then you could always drive up to the café at the top and sit on one of the many benches provided by the National Trust. Here is the link to Leith Hill Tower’s woodland walk which has been ranked as easy.
These are just two of many beautiful places to visit in Surrey if you would like to check out more walks based in the Surrey area, then visit the National Trust Surrey walking website, which is packed full of local walks with maps, distance and an average walking time.
