This year’s Ride London…

Sunday was an exciting day for Goodfellows as the Prudential Ride London participants rode the 100 miles course past many of our estate agency branches.
The streets of Surrey and East London were lined with enthusiastic spectators cheering on over 25,000 cyclists as they made their way from the Stratford Stadium to the Mall.
After this event spectators got the chance to cheer on their favourite professional riders as Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish among many other expert riders raced towards victory.  You had to be quick to spot your favourite as they whizzed past at lightning speed, headed by several police bikes and then the front riders. In the end neither Wiggins or Cavendish won the race; instead first position was taken by Jean-Pierre Drucker from Luxembourg.
This year’s event, unlike last year’s, was bathed in glorious sunshine. In 2014 the event was cancelled at one point due to torrential rain, caused by the tail end of hurricane Bertha.
The Ride London event took place over the whole weekend, and it’s something that the whole family could get involved in, bringing together over 100,000 riders of enthusiasts and professionals. Children also got to cycle on safe, closed-off roads on the ride known as Free Cycle.
If you didn’t get to watch the cyclists ride past on Sunday, then the TV footage would not have disappointed, and acted as a fantastic reminder of what a lush and green place bestowed with trees that Surrey really is.
