Over the next two weekends Surrey is celebrating Farm and Food week, which is running this week from the 21st September until the 28th September. If you would like to see a full list of walks and events for 2014 please follow this link:
As with every year the event is organised by Surrey County Agricultural Society, which has become for many families part of the annual autumn calendar. The week was originally launched in 2001, to encourage people to participate in going to local farms and walks across Surrey. The programme enables visitors to have a behind the scenes peak at what it is really like to run a farm, including looking after sheep, beef cattle and dairy cow.
Visitors will also have the chance to try out local produce and buy them if they wish, farms offer anything from sausages made from Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs to watercress, grown at the Kingfisher Farm Shop in Abinger Hammer.
If you or your children have ever fancied having a go at ploughing on the last Sunday of this month at Loseley Park near Guildford you can have a go between 9am-5pm, other entertainment includes; a Punch & Judy Show, Classic Car and Landrover Displays, a Food Hall, real-ale bar, Farmers  Market, Craft Marquee, Spinners & Weavers display and there are plenty of trade and craft stalls to browse.
