How to get your shed organised

For many of us a garden shed will start off as a place to store DIY tools and garden equipment, add the odd child’s toy and a couple of bikes to the mix and we will find that our ability to actual retrieve a stored item becomes virtually impossible.
Although most sheds are quite small it is possible to organise the space with a bit of planning, and it’s important to get the whole family on side when it comes to keeping the space in order.
First of all you need to review your shed’s contents, only keeping what you really need. Don’t forget to allow space for your lawn mower and BBQ as these will need to be stored away in the winter months.
Most people will tackle a shed by emptying the contents onto the garden – this can be overwhelming, so instead look at each item individually and decide whether you want to keep it – making a pile of items to keep, throw away and donate.
Once you have done this, explore some different storage options for your shed, the secret is to use every available bit of wall, ceiling space – and even the doors to ensure maximum storage. If you plan to store garden tools on the walls make sure that you leave enough space between them so that you can pull them off easily. Use magnetic strips for smaller items; hand tools, paintbrushes, and use old food tins with smaller items, such as bolts and screws.
If you are considering using shelving make sure you buy some that is adjustable so that you can change the space with your expanding/changing needs.
If you are looking to buy a property which comes with two outdoor storage options, including a shed and a summer house then Goodfellows Carshalton Beeches has a 5 bedroom property for sale in the sought after area of Carshalton with a guide price of £750,000.
