Race ahead - Racecourses in Surrey...

April 2nd 2014

Local racecourses, Epsom, Sandown Park and Kempton Park are all offering great race days as well as evening races followed by live music.  If you’ve never been to a horse race, why not try it this year – with the season kicking off in April, there’s no time to lose.
With James Blunt, The Beach Boys and Boyzone all playing at Epsom, there’s something for everyone.  It’s a great experience and the music tops off a really memorable evening.  Dizzee Rascal will be entertaining the crowds at Kempton Park, Wet Wet Wet, Jessie J and Tom Jones are headline acts at Sandown Park.
There are family race days during the summer, enjoy the surroundings with the whole family together.  There’s a great atmosphere before the races which lifts to fever pitch while the horses are racing – watch the crowds cheer as well as the horses stampeding past, shaking the ground as they go.
To take part properly, buy a race card when you arrive – read about the horses and their jockeys, choose your winner – based on their previous race history, or maybe just because you like the name!  Place your bet at the Tote or bookmakers on the course before the race starts.  Then stand back and watch the race.  You can hopefully collect your winnings after you’ve watched the winning horses and jockeys parade in the Winners Circle!
