Rising Rents

A message from Goodfellows' Lettings Director, Bernadette Keating.

Rents rose 3% over the course of 2014 according to data from the latest Buy-to-Let index from LSL Property Services, despite falling on a monthly basis between November and December 2014.

“Demand for rental homes is still high, and there are more people looking than we would normally expect at this time of year.” comments Bernadette Keating, Lettings Director for Goodfellows.

“Historically there is a tendancy for rents to ease during the winter as less tenants choose to relocate over the festive period. However, the jobs boom across our local regions has seen people still relocating during the winter.  This has pushed the rental prices up further, with rents in London 0.9% higher in December than in November.
December is always a difficult time for finances.  Nevertheless renters are more in control of their finances and overall 2014 was a success.”
