Love it or hate it, football fever will dominate our screens and radio for a month starting in a couple of weeks.
From Thursday 12th June  to Sunday 13th July 13th, the footballing world will be engrossed with the World Cup.  Taking place in Brazil – it’s the first time since 1978 that the tournament has been hosted in South America.

32 countries have progressed through competitions that began in 2011. 64 matches will be played in Brazil and for the first time in a World Cup Final, ‘goal-line’ technology will be used.

The matches are going to be played in new and redeveloped stadiums in 12 cities across the whole of Brazil.
The competition should be even more exciting this year, as for the first time ever, each World Champion team has qualified for this year’s competition – Brazil, Uruguay, Italy, Germany, England, Argentina, France and Spain.
The World Champions will receive $35m, with the runners up receiving $25m.
An incredible 12,500 people from 102 nationalities, have applied to volunteer to take part in what is being called the greatest football show on Earth!  The volunteers were asked to apply for competitions, ceremonies and stadium operations – many want to take part in a major multi-cultural event as well as experience “World Cup Fever”.
