Famous for its gorgeous lavender fields, Mitcham is a town with deep history dating back to Celtic and Roman times. Formerly part of Surrey, this popular South London suburb is now the perfect area for commuters who want live somewhere with a rural feel while still being close to the city.

What are the transport links like in Mitcham?

Mitcham has two main train stations, Mitcham Eastfields and Mitcham Junction, both of which are served by Southern and Thameslink trains. Mitcham Eastfields connects to central London and can get commuters to London Bridge in 23 minutes, while Mitcham Junction connects to Wimbledon and also serves as a tram stop.

The A236 and the A217 both go through Mitcham and pass through the neighbouring Tooting, Wandsworth and Cheam.

If you’re looking for some outdoor space, the sprawling Mitcham Common has been recognised as a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. It has two ponds, a golf course and a wide variety of plants and wildlife.
