My parents had been looking for a property to come up for sale in The Causeway for a few years as this was their dream road with properties very rarely coming on the market here.

They eventually purchased No. 5 in the early 80s and set about renovating it from top to bottom. The conservatory was added to the back of the house and double glazing installed throughout along with central heating. York Stone fireplaces were built and the flooring in one of the largest bedrooms (which we used as a games room) was reinforced in order to take the weight of a snooker table but we ended up opting for a table tennis table instead.

There was originally a putting green and croquet lawn at the rear of the garden and this was replaced with a tennis court and 13 foot x 9 foot fish pond.

The tennis court has had many hours of use and tennis practice with my brother actually becoming a very successful tennis player, also participating in the National Championships. He went on to become a professional tennis coach, coaching at the David Lloyd Centre and eventually moving to Spain and coaching in Marbella. The court now needs resurfacing having not been used for a number of years but it still holds many fond memories (mainly of me being thrashed by my brother).

The Causeway is a quiet road and all of the neighbours are very friendly and welcoming. Sutton train station (with its superb links to London) is walkable and we are within 5 minutes of the local bus stop. Having a postbox outside our frontage is also very useful.

I am sure whoever ends up purchasing No. 5 will absolutely love the property and surrounding area.
