We are nearly at the end of the year so we thought we would take a sneak preview of what 2018 will bring to home fashion and where better to take a look than the Elle Décor site.
They predict that the main paint colours will be striking blue, animated fushias and various shades of browns. Colour choices for furniture could be ripe red velvet covered armchairs, burnt yellows such as curry and turmeric – almost orange in tone. Pantone Color Insitute executive director Leatrice Eiseman reveals will be a move away from more pastel colours seen in homes during recent years making way for more intensive colours.
Sherwin-Williams' Director of Marketing says; “We’re remapping our sense of community, landlocked cities are becoming global hubs of crafts and gastronomy. Home and car sharing, as well as e-learning, have created a culture of everyday nomadism and the wanderlust-obsessed.”
Bright tribal patterns we have seen across fabrics and accessories will take on a more monotone pattern and instead will be in black and white.
Raw materials such as marble, concrete and wood will continue to play an important role mixed with other softer fabrics such as velvet. The collective look will continue throughout 2018 as well as smoothed curved furniture such as beech and marble tops, and oval glass.
Banks of walling with cupboards mixed with open shelving or open shelving will remain popular in sitting rooms.
If you would like to bring some of the interior predictions into your home the best way to do this is to introduce some of the colours into your soft furnishings and accessories.
