If you are planning to have a go at making your own hot cross buns this Easter then how about trying this chocolate hot cross bun recipe from the BBC Good food website.

If you are used to making your own traditional hot cross buns it’s quite easy all you need to do is add 100g to your mix.  The easiest way to make the dough is to add all of the dough ingredients to a bread maker if you don’t have one of these you will need to follow these instructions http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chocolate-chip-hot-cross-buns

Here are the ingredients you will need:

400g strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting
7g sachet fast-action dried yeast
50g golden caster sugar, plus 1 tsp
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
250ml warm milk
1 medium egg, beaten
50g butter, melted, plus extra for greasing
100g chocolate chips (milk or dark, whichever you prefer), or currants or raisins
50g plain flour
