English Strawberries are amongst some of the most delicious strawberries in the world. The English climate is perfect for creating these delicious red tasty delights, and whether you eat them on their own or add them to a recipe they are a great summer treat.
They are an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids. They also contain antioxidants which are also thought to fight against damaged cells.
The BBC good food website has a huge choice of strawberry recipes, including Strawberry Cheese cake, Strawberry Soufflé, Strawberry shortcake stack and lots more
Strawberries are also great made into smoothies, here is a quick and simple recipe:
250g strawberries
1 small pot of yoghurt
1 tbsp on local honey
4 ice cubes
200ml of cold water
Simply add all of the above to your smoothie maker and blend, you could also add blueberries or black berries for an extra kick.
If you would like to pick your own then Crockford Bridge farm in Surrey is now open for you to pick your own strawberries , they have several varieties to choose from, and they are cheaper than buying from most supermarkets. You can fill up your freezer so that you can have a great source of fruit to add to your winter smoothies or perhaps you would like to have a go at making your own strawberry jam.
