How to ease the school morning routine…

We’re only a week into this year’s school term and many parents are already feeling the strain of the school morning routine, but with a little organisation you can make it run much more smoothly. Here are a few tips on how to get the family clothed, fed and out of the door on time every day:

• Make sure that your children have everything they need for their school day placed by the front door the night before. PE kit, shoes, coats and so fourth. As well as making sure that their clothes are ready to go, so that there are no excuses.

• Set a timer for when your children should have done all of their morning chores, this could be their favourite childhood song, a timer or a play list you can create with your children.

• Get breakfast ready the night before, lay the table with everything you will need for the morning. Placing cereal packets, fruit, butter and jams, and bread next to the toaster to make sure that breakfast runs smoothly and quickly.

• The biggest delay in the morning seems to be just as you go out of the front door, so instead put shoes on outside, this will make your child put on their shoes quickly.

• Have a car emergency kit for those days you will find yourself running late, by placing cereal bars and small cartons of orange juice in the glove compartment of your car.
