It’s very important to make sure you show off your property to its full potential on the day, so here are a few tips to help you prepare your home:

 • Clear directions - Make sure your temporary signs are visible.
 • Be ready early - quite often potential buyers will want to get ahead of the crowd.
 • Curb appeal – to create the best first impression, make sure you clean up your front garden. Getting rid of any dead plants from planters or flower beds, mowing the lawn, weeding the gravel or paved areas will give the impression that your home is well cared for. Remove any vehicles from the driveway.
 • Tidy up – this might seem obvious. If you have animals then try and get someone to look after them for the day, or put them in a kennels.
 • Create an inviting ambiance - Make sure your home is warm and inviting, the smell of home made bread is always great.
 • If there are any negatives in your home, such as the position to a nosy road or anything else, make sure you have pre-prepared your response, and reply in an upbeat way.
 • Create a home buyers guide, this could be a personal guide to your home giving vital information on how long it takes you to get to the shops and local activities.
If you do all of the above then you would have created the perfect open house day, if you market your home through Goodfellow's then we will help you through every step of the selling process.
