Working from home is a lifestyle choice...

Over the past 20 years we have seen a huge increase in the amount of people setting up a home run business or working from home. There is no doubt that the internet has played a huge role in providing a sufficient platform to work remotely, but that aside the whole attitude towards working from home has improved.

According to the ONS, Office for National Statistics, they have stated that last year there were 4.2 million UK workers, working from home in the first three months of 2014. These figures are based on those people who work from home and those who use their home as a base, but work in different places. Around 1.5 million work in their home or in studios or workshop grounds.

Companies are adopting a much more flexible approach to the amount of hours they expect their staff to be at their business premises, offering a employees the choice to work some days at home and some at the office. However according to the TUC they say that far too many bosses do not trust their staff to work from home.

Forbes have created a list of the top 100 telecommunicating companies who enable their employees to work from home http://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2015/01/21/work-from-home-the-top-100-companies-offering-telecommuting-jobs-in-2015/.

Working from home offers flexibility and can reduce commuting time and costs. So it seems like a non brainer. If you are considering working from home, depending upon the type of work you can work from a spare room, office shed, garage, the list is endless. You could even work from a rental property.
